The Interdisciplinary Center of Central and South-Eastern European Cultural Studies (CISCLE)

The specific lines of inter- and multi-disciplinary research with focus on the Central and South-East European culture concern with:

  • The dynamics of the concepts specific to literary, cultural and socio-humanistic studies and resignification of the main ideological coordinates (identity, local, regional, marginal, territorial, national, universal, peripheral, tradition, cosmopolitism, etc.);
  • Comparative geographies / literary geography and geopolitics;
  • Literary Balkanism and Byzantine Commonwealth/Phanariot Commonwealth;
  • Exile and Diaspora studies;
  • Studies on the cultural and social memory in the Central and South-East European space;
  • Literature - bearer of the urban memory culture;
  • Central and South-East European literature in view of the paradigms of contemporary sociology and politology;
  • The migration phenomenon in the Central and South-East European space from a literary, socio-cultural and political perspective.
